Winner of both the Grand Jury Prize for dramatic feature and the Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, Ryan Coogler’s compelling first feature is based on the true story of Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan), a 22-year-old Bay Area resident who was shot dead by police officers on December 31, 2008.
FRUITVALE STATION focuses on that last – ordinary but fateful – day as Oscar crosses paths with family, friends and strangers. Oscar’s quiet, emerging sense of responsibility will not come quickly but there is a determination in his acceptance of that struggle.
